Purinton Howdy Doody Cookie Jar

Hake's Americana
There are enough Howdy Doody cookie jars to have their own category in your collection. Purinton, Vandor, and Treasure Craft all made jars. But the first one made was during Howdy's heyday.

The Purinton jar was offered for sale in 1953 for the price of $3.99.

Sold around 1953, the Purinton Howdy Doody jar is considered one of the classics in the cookie jar world. Since the jars were probably handled by lots of small hands, the lid usually wound up being broken!

This particular jar was sold on Hake's Americana Auction in March 2006. The jar has a restored lid and was also signed on the bottom by Buffalo Bob Smith.

The sold price for this particular jar was $336, but a jar in excellent condition would most likely sell for a higher price.

  • Made by: Purinton Pottery
  • Size: 9"
  • Marks: None
  • Originally Sold for $3.98
  • Estimated Values: $400 - $650
